Keloids are hard to treat

Hypertrophic scars and keloids result from an abnormal wound healing process and can be both physically and psychologically debilitating for the patient. These scars are frequently conspicuous, and patients can present with symptoms including pain and itchiness. Management of these scars can be difficult given the high recurrence rates and potential for additional scar growth.

Various treatment modalities are not effective enough

While there are multiple treatment methods to treat keloids, no solution to-date has proven to be effective, long lasting, and without side effects. Various laser treatments require a large number of sessions per scar, and often cannot resolve the keloid completely. Steroid injections and silicone bandages return limited results. Contact and spray cryotherapy have been used as well, however, by virtue of their superficial approach, these techniques are associated with high recurrence rates, hypopigmentation of the epidermis, and no significant impact to the deeper dermal layers.

Intralesional Cryotherapy dramatically improves the care for keloid and hypertrophic scars

How does CryoShape work?

CryoShape is a sharp, high quality, cryo probe that is able to pierce the dense scar tissue. Liquid nitrogen is passed through the probe, which freezes the core of the scar and destroys the surrounding tissue. The nitrogen is released as gas via a safety vent. Liquid nitrogen does not come in contact with the patient at any stage. Freezing from the inside out results in direct damage to the keloid cells and injury to the surrounding vascular structures, while leaving the epidermis relatively unharmed.
